Once a cozy collection of fifteen or so private liberal arts colleges sharing one application form, the non-profit Common Application has grown into an organization that encompasses 702 institutions ranging from Harvard, Yale and Amherst to Appalachian State and the University of Wyoming. As the name indicates, it enables students to create an account and complete one basic form accepted by member institutions, eliminating the need to enter the same information over and over when applying to multiple institutions. With a wide range of colleges and universities represented, the Common Application (CA) very likely will be all many students need as they explore their post-high school educational options.
