College Board Releases 2016 Total Group Report

girls-vs-boys

A number of articles will stem from The College Board’s 2016 Total Group Report. These articles generally reference the following topics: SAT performance by gender, socio-economic status, SAT Math performance by gender, class, income level etc

An initial review of the data suggests that not much has changed in terms of gender based average scores in Math and English (Reading & Writing), however, folks sometimes (often) bend the data to generate a story.

Having said that, the report is rich with data from which stats fans are likely to draw inferences which will should hit national news. In turn, this will generate publicity, which will continue to drive the recent uptick in business for tutors and independent college counselors.

A little business planning now can go a long way toward Q4 results. Here are two key elements from our Q4 Strategic Planning Brief:

In terms of leveraging the data in a way that informs business decision-making, business preparation should include a focus on staffing and product offerings.

With regard to staffing, add a Math (Algebra I, II) /Physical Science specialist (we’re talking one or two for most companies). If you don’t have one, consider adding a single SAT Compact Class prior the November and December SAT cycle. That is to say, one class toward the end of October which will allow students to prepare for either/both the November or December SAT.
