Profile (About You)

Dane has tutored for over fourteen years and graduated from Tufts University with a B.Sc. in chemistry. He strives to be pragmatic and kind about the challenges his clients face. Mathematics, chemistry, the Latin language, and test prep (SAT/ACT/GRE, Subject Tests, and AP Exams) are Dane’s specialties in tutoring.

His teaching style is centered around patient empathy – he shuns dull, strict lessons where the instructor only serves as a sentient textbook. Overwhelming schedules and imposing academics add pressure to students; Dane acknowledges this pressure and works to counteract it, which leads to more confident clients. Dane guarantees sessions where students have freedom to be themselves and speak honestly about their next steps.

Dane has created a system of lifelong, systematic digestion of information. He wishes to hear the subjects he tutors explained through many different voices, to select the ideal method for each student. Creativity and optimism are the qualities he most values in an instructor. He has won local and national awards in Latin and inorganic chemistry, and enjoyed surprising his college instructors with enthusiastic monologues on the molecules he found the most fascinating.

In his spare time, Dane goes on frequent walks, enjoys the history of words and how they change over time, finds great amusement in the technical glitches of computer programs and games (which are most definitely a form of art), and enjoys his signature recipe for spicy pulled pork pizza.
