GRE® Volumes Continue to Trend Up Among Business and Global Students

The GRE® Program continued its volume growth in 2015 reaching 766,185 tests administered worldwide. GRE volumes grew by nearly two percent compared to 2014 and have grown by more than 13 percent since 2009.
In addition, the GRE revised General Test’s population continues to expand with an increase of test takers from outside the United States, and those interested in business and science graduate programs. While U.S. volume remained stable in 2015, international volumes increased a noteworthy seven percent including gains of more than nine percent in Asia and nearly four percent in Africa.
Notable trends in 2015 GRE volumes compared to 2014 include:
·         GRE volume in India increased by more than 13 percent with 123,000 tests taken.
·         The intended graduate major fields of study that experienced the most significant growth in 2015 include business (seven percent), physical sciences (seven percent) and engineering (3 percent).
·         Females accounted for more than 50 percent of the test-taker population, while males accounted for 46 percent.

GRE scores are accepted at thousands of institutions around the world, including more than
1,200 business schools accepting GRE scores for their MBA programs. Currently, 97 of the 2015 U.S. News & World Report Top 100 business schools in the United States and nine of the top 10 institutions on The Financial Times 2016 Global MBA Ranking accept GRE scores. In addition, 29 of Bloomberg Businessweek’s top 30 U.S. MBA programs accept GRE scores.
