TPAPT Summer Conference

Join us for our 7th annual professional development conference for tutoring owner-operators, IECs, and test prep professionals!

A major theme this year (again) is Test Optional Admissions (TOA). As in the past we will have two opposing views: a pro-test optional position and an anti-test optional position (and maybe even a scholarly debate). Regardless of your personal feelings toward TOA, we hope to provide data and objective facts to help you plan and adapt your business practices appropriately.

Speaking of planning, training, and keeping academic talent will be another major theme this year. We will provide practical guidance on how to keep your rockstar talent. At the end of the day our members tend to understand that the tutor–not the tutoring business–is the product and we will stay true to that notion with a deep dive into tutor retention.

Beyond those two major themes, we’ll have a great session on contemporary marketing practices with some easy “quick wins” which should help folks update their social media / SEO processes.

And we’re really excited about another “how to” session, which is how to develop partnerships with community based organizations. With the changing of the guard in Washington, there is a new Department of Education and new program funding. At the same time, there has been a good deal of public support for the efficacy of private tutoring particularly in the context of reducing the impact of Covid learning loss. A perfect storm of goodness for independent educators? We think so!

On to the business side of things. Ever wonder what your small but mighty business is worth? It is a key element in business planning so we’ll look at a formula or two John Murray of NoodlePros during a session about tutoring business valuation, when to sell, when not to sell, and how to add value before your sell your educational service business.

Some general information about our conferences:

• Developed from an annual member survey

• Modeled after a business-offsite / academic conference

• Created specifically to empower local tutoring owner-operators and independent test prep professionals

• We strive to provide content-rich takeaways which can be implemented in the days and weeks immediately following the conference.

Please join us if you can for the sessions / Q & As on July 22nd and 23rd. If you can’t make it, no worries, just register and we will send you the web recording(s) the week after the conference!
