Job Type:  Live,  1:1 Learning Center Based Tutoring at a TPAPT Certified Learning Center

Job description

We are currently seeking tutors to support students with their ACT/SAT English/reading preparation. This can be a full-time or part-time position, but we’re ideally looking for a full-time person. If you have experience with the Erica Meltzer ACT/SAT curriculum, we will be highly interested in you!

WHO ARE YOU?

• You have previous experience teaching ACT and/or SAT prep-at this time, we can only interview people with previous experience.

• You love grammar and reading

  • You are passionate, friendly, motivated and ideally have tutoring/teaching experience and/or a teaching degree.
  • You have a at least a bachelor’s degree in a humanities-related field• You enjoy working with teenagers.• You can commit to at least 6+ tutoring hours per week, and you can see yourself working as a tutor for at least 1 year.
  • You are available weekday afternoons/evenings and at least one weekend day available to tutor.

WHO ARE WE?

• We are an independent Minneapolis-based tutoring company offering services in test prep, all high school courses and college essay writing.

• We believe strongly in the importance of one-on-one instruction, and our mission is to boost our students’ academic independence by teaching them content along with a new approach to their education.

• We have a very structured curriculum, but we allow our tutors to innovate and adapt the curriculum to suit their own personalities and teaching style. You’ll be supported, but we don’t want you to be a robot with a script!

PERKS & COMPENSATION:

• Competitive pay and flexible schedule

• Manage your hours online using our scheduling software and only show availability when you want to work.

• Pay scale $25-$40/hour starting – rate calculated based on years of experience, level of education, licensure and ability to also take on academic tutoring students.

• We ARE NOT JUST A MATCHING SERVICE! I cannot stress this enough–we are VERY different from your average tutoring company in that we are way more hands-on—but not so hands-on that you feel micromanaged. We have proprietary systems set up that allow you to help your students be incredibly successful.

• Because of the pandemic, we were 90 percent online, but we have a CENTER model and are now back to the office. What does this mean for you right now? You’ll be working in our office, but you’ll also have some online sessions for families who prefer online (via Zoom) tutoring (or who live out of state, so obviously need online tutoring). Most of our tutors like to book back to back sessions with us, which means you don’t have to worry about noisy, unprofessional coffee shops or working around library hours/reserving study rooms. You also don’t have to drive all over the place going to families’ homes. This role can be done remotely if the hired tutor is non-local, but we have a preference for a local who can do some in-person tutoring.

• We believe strongly in the importance of one-on-one instruction, and our mission is to boost our students’ academic independence by teaching them content along with a new approach to their education.
